Department Bio

The GWSPH Communications Office coordinates the marketing, communication and events of Milken Institute School of Public Health. We develop and implement initiatives that bring together the stories of our diverse people and programs, and represent the many ways the school is advancing the health of our local, national, and global communities.

Position Specific Summary

The goal of this position is to build up Milken Institute School of Public Health students as an integral part of our institutional and Dean Channel social media presence. With more than 33,000+ social media followers across our accounts, you would be a critical messenger on today's pressing public health issues. The core responsibility of this position is to translate GWSPH research to social media as well as create admissions and prospective student focused content through static image posts, eye-catching infographics, and short-form video content.

You do not need advanced video or photography skills to apply. If you are comfortable creating content for Instagram, LinkedIn etc, you are qualified.

Responsibilities include creating, scheduling, and posting content across GWSPH social media channels, including the Dean's channel; collaborating with Communications staff to develop content; preparing regular data analytics reports; and attending weekly editorial meetings.

Standard Position Description

The student will manage and/or design marketing and communication strategies and content for departments and/or special events. Tasks may include: Planning, creating, managing and executing marketing plans and campaigns, website resources, digital content and design, and/or managing of social media accounts. While completing work with a high degree of discretion, the student will work within organization marketing standards and guidelines. Special projects or other duties may be assigned

Previous skills, training, or experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications You are interested in increasing awareness about pressing public health topics for diverse audiences; You are excited about advancing your communication skills; You are a masters level student at GWSPH who can speak to your experiences on camera
