Overview We’re looking for a
Technical Animator
to define and support the core of our character animation pipeline. The role combines technical rigging in
Maya
with real‑time animation setup in
Unity , ensuring consistent, high‑quality character performance from authoring to runtime. You’ll work across disciplines to make animation tools and systems predictable and efficient for production use.
Responsibilities Character Rigging & Pipeline
Build and maintain
rigs
in Maya with clean controls, consistent hierarchies, and proper deformation.
Manage
skeleton setup ,
joint orientation , and
skin weighting .
Maintain a stable
Maya-to-Unity export pipeline
for animation data.
Runtime Animation Systems
Develop and support
runtime rigging
setups in Unity.
Create and maintain
animation controllers , including
blend spaces ,
state machines , and
animation layers .
Handle
retargeting ,
runtime fixes , and
procedural adjustments
as needed.
Work with engineers to optimize animation systems for performance and flexibility.
Collaboration
Coordinate closely with the art and engineering teams.
Ensure animation data is consistent between DCC tools and runtime.
Contribute to ongoing improvements in workflow, tooling, and animation integration.
Qualifications
Strong experience with
Maya rigging , including control setup, constraints, and deformation.
Proficient in
Unity’s animation system , including
runtime rigging ,
controller design , and Final IK.
Understanding of
skeletons ,
animation retargeting , and
data flow
between Maya and Unity.
Working knowledge of
C#
for animation logic, tools, or runtime extensions.
Experience troubleshooting and refining animation playback in-engine.
Effective communication and problem‑solving skills across technical and art teams.
Nice to Have
Experience with
Unity Timelines
for cinematic or scripted sequences.
Familiarity with
procedural animation
or layered blending techniques.
Interest in scalable, performance‑focused animation pipelines.
