Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) represents more than 1,700 companies in the U.S. and around the globe who play a critical part in providing recycled materials to America’s manufacturing industries. Based in Washington, D.C., we promote safe, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible recycling through education, networking, and advocacy. The VP shapes and elevates ReMA’s organizational voice across platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with strategic priorities. This role develops messaging that reflects ReMA’s mission, values, and leadership in the recycled materials industry, while highlighting member impact, industry innovation, and sustainability efforts. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Develops, leads, mentors and supports a communications team through hands‑on management, mentorship, and a focus on collaboration and professional growth. Oversees the development and delivery of high‑quality communications across digital platforms—including the website, social media, newsletters, and video—to engage stakeholders and advance ReMA’s strategic priorities. Refines and reinforces ReMA’s core messaging to reflect its mission, values, and leadership in the recycled materials industry, with emphasis on member impact, innovation, and sustainability. Aligns digital efforts with broader communications goals, using analytics to inform strategy and engagement. Aligns communications strategies across departments to ensure message consistency and reinforce ReMA’s strategic priorities. Collaborates closely with membership, government affairs, events, and other internal teams to amplify initiatives and deliver cohesive, audience‑centered communications across all platforms. Serves as ReMA’s primary media liaison, developing proactive outreach strategies to secure high‑impact coverage. Oversees budgeting, resource allocation, and performance metrics to ensure efficient and impactful execution. Positions ReMA leadership and members as authoritative voices in the recycled materials industry through op‑eds, interviews, and expert commentary. Preferred Education / Skills

Minimum of 12 years in a senior communications role within a trade association, public affairs firm, or communications agency, with demonstrated success in leading strategic initiatives and managing high‑performing teams. History of designing and executing integrated communications campaigns that drive organizational goals, manage reputational risk, and respond effectively to breaking news or emerging issues. Skilled and confident presenter with the ability to represent ReMA in high‑profile member, media, and public settings. Projects credibility and clarity as a communications leader and spokesperson. Demonstrated success in recruiting, mentoring, and coaching communications professionals to maximize individual and team performance in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, journalism, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred. Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information. Working Conditions

Salary range for this position is between $175,000 - $190,000. This position operates in a professional office setting designed to support productivity, collaboration, and employee well‑being.
