Reed Integration, Inc., an innovative small business offering technical, management, and training solutions, had an immediate need for an experienced, full-time eLearning Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) to support commercial and federal government clients. The successful candidate will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), multimedia specialists, and project stakeholders to produce instructionally sound, engaging, and fully accessible training products that comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements, DoD Instruction 1322.26, and applicable Air Force Instructions (AFIs) for distributed learning.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Design:

Collaborate with SMEs to identify learning needs, establish measurable learning objectives, and capture accurate design requirements for eLearning and blended learning solutions.

Analysis & Needs Assessment:

Conduct task and needs analyses, review existing training, and consult with stakeholders to determine required knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Course Design Documentation:

Prepare detailed design documentation, including storyboards and scripts, to guide multimedia and course development.

Content Development:

Create dynamic instructional content and simulations using the Articulate 360 Suite (required) and other authoring tools, incorporating multimedia elements such as video, graphics, and animations to create interactive, engaging, and impactful eLearning courses tailored to the business need and target audience.

Accessibility & Compliance:

Develop all training content to meet Section 508 accessibility standards, ensuring compatibility with screen readers, keyboard navigation, closed captions, and other accessibility features.

Multimedia Integration:

Work with video producers and graphic designers to create and integrate interactive and engaging visual/audio elements that enhance learning outcomes.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct functional and compliance reviews to ensure courses meet contract specifications, usability requirements, and applicable Air Force and DoD distributed learning standards.

Course Evaluation:

Develop and implement plans for pilot testing, formative/summative evaluation, and ongoing performance measurement.

Revision & Maintenance:

Update training products based on stakeholder feedback, learner evaluations, and periodic content reviews; manage version control for all course materials.

Documentation & Reporting:

Produce reports on training development activities, evaluation outcomes, and recommendations for improvement as required by the project or contract.

Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience applying Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies to develop synchronous and asynchronous learning solutions, including eLearning.

Preferred Experience:

Familiarity with DoD and Air Force training standards, including AFMAN 36-2234 (Instructional System Development) and DoDI 1322.26 (Distributed Learning).

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Systems, Instructional Systems Technology, Instructional & Performance Technology, Education, or related field.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency with Articulate 360 Suite (required); experience with additional development tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other eLearning/multimedia authoring platforms (preferred); proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) and SharePoint; strong graphic design and multimedia editing skills; demonstrated ability to design and develop 508-compliant training products.

Soft Skills:

Excellent organizational skills, time management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities; able to manage multiple concurrent projects; proven success working with SMEs and cross-functional teams in fast-paced development environments.
