Instructional Designer (Contractor) Location: Remote

Description This is a 1099 Contract position. We are looking for an experienced Instructional Designer who can regularly contract with our team for upcoming and ongoing projects. The ideal candidate is a passionate learner and educator, experienced with the process of course development from discovery through completion and ongoing maintenance. The individual is proficient in current best practices in both eLearning and instructor‑led training and can create courses that challenge critical thinking by focusing on the application of learned material, not just knowledge transfer.

Key Skills

eLearning: proficiency in Articulate Storyline and Rise; other rapid eLearning authoring tools a plus

Vyond, Canva, and other video/audio/graphics tools

ILT/VILT: proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Adobe

Responsibilities Course Development

Collaborate with staff on course design, storyboard, and learning outcomes.

Develop and design assigned courses for both eLearning and instructor‑led training.

Write scripts for both eLearning and instructor‑led courses.

Work with staff to ensure alignment with ANCC NCPD standards.

Design learning exercises, activities, workbooks and tools to enhance the learning process.

Develop instructor manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools when appropriate.

Utilize best‑practice engagement strategies to encourage critical thinking, reflection, and application of knowledge.

Devise assessment modes beyond quizzes and tests to measure course effectiveness.

Course Management & Execution

Maintain project documentation and course folders.

Manage the project workflow and lead the design, development, implementation, revision, and maintenance of assigned course offerings.

Work directly with staff to design and develop engaging courses that utilize current best practices in eLearning and instructor‑led training.

Utilize APIC processes and style guide to support course development.

Accreditation Standards

Ensure proper documentation and compliance with ANCC NCPD as directed.

Requirements Education/Experience

At least three years of related experience leading the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of eLearning and instructor‑led training.

An LLC is required for this position; if you are not currently filed as an LLC, you will have 60 days upon contracting to comply.

Proof of continued personal growth and development in the instructional design field.

Experience in health‑care related learning preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work within aggressive timelines to meet project goals.

Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively both within a collaborative environment and independently, implement ideas into tangible work product, take initiative, and prioritize.

Strong technical acumen with proficiency in MS Office and experience with leading‑edge computer‑based tools in developing and delivering eLearning and instructor‑led education; knowledge of HTML, XML, and various internet applications.

Module and curriculum‑planning skills.

Excellent proofreading and editing skills and the ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts.

Knowledge of instructional theory, including current best practice in engagement and assessment strategies.

Advanced knowledge and proficiency with visual design skills (InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Articulate 360, specifically Storyline 360) as well as learning management systems (LMS), such as Crowd Wisdom and Elevate.
