Marketing & Business Development Coordinator – Legal Directory Submissions
to join our team. The Marketing & Business Development Coordinator – Legal Directory Submissions is responsible for supporting opportunities led by Proposal/ Client Development team to expand business relationships and services to drive revenues and achieve financial growth. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with the business development teams and with partners firmwide.
Reporting to the Proposal Manager (UK office), the Marketing & Business Development Coordinator – Legal Directory Submissions will support and manage the U.S. Chambers and Legal500 submissions and other surveys including AmLaw 200 process, oversee the marketing and business development involvement in the firm’s experience database (Foundation, Dynamics and MSTeams) and deliver high-quality metrics and analysis to key stakeholders and continuously enhance and refine our processes to ensure best practices are implemented. This position will also have the opportunity to contribute to major pitches, proposals and RFP responses.
Legal Directory/Survey/Submission (Chambers and Legal500)
Maintain, update and track deadlines, new submissions, changes in guidelines and other relevant communications.
Track rankings results from year to year, produce comparison charts and conduct research on competitors to continuously improve rankings and identify new potential areas for submissions.
Collaborate with business development team members to prepare initial submission drafts and lead on the entire submission lifecycle.
Lead and implement on submission strategy with partners and business development team members.
Contribute and lead on key submission processes at the firm.
Maintain and update awards, accolades and editorial commentary for all legal directory guides.
Update referee in Dynamics (CRM system) usage year to year for Chambers and Legal500 directories.
Coordinate with BD members re lawyer communications with client references (pre- and post-submission); request reference response rates from researchers and collaborate with business development team members regarding referee follow-up.
Coordinate interviews between the researchers and partners and compile talking points to share with partners in advance of directory rankings interviews.
Coordinate with communications team to prepare and post press releases and website announcements for the firm’s directory rankings and awards successes.
Participate and contribute to legal directory training modules for US, UK. EMEA business development teams.
Industry, Market and Competitive Intelligence
Collaborate with the Business Development Analysts to gather, analyze and distribute intelligence on competitors’ services and products, market conditions and clients.
Proposal Development and Project Management
Collaborate with the global proposal team to provide project management on multi-practice and multi-jurisdictional business opportunities.
Provide support for special reporting projects related to proposals for Project Advance, Growth Engine and Accelerate Strategic Accounts program, and reporting of Mansfield, ESG, and Innovation data points.
Experience Management
Manage the library of Legal Directory submission, the FAQs, the submission resource center and submission database.
Skills and experience required
Experienced in managing marketing and business development initiatives to deliver positive results – for example, awareness levels achieved, leads generated, revenue generated
Preferably worked in a highly entrepreneurial / start up environment.
Demonstrable ability to think creatively and innovatively, and to develop new ways of doing things, as well as a demonstrable openness to new ways of working
Strong marketing skills and a demonstrable understanding of the submission process within a law firm / professional services setting
Excellent written communication and project management skills
Highly organized with impeccable attention to detail
Demonstrable ability to understand the fundamentals of how technology, process and data analytics are combining to deliver new legal products and services
Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary, highly collaborative team
Ability to inspire confidence in others
Self-motivated and proactive
Able to multi-task and manage competing priorities/projects
Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
An openness to using digital marketing and other approaches
Comfortable with using marketing technology – e.g. iManage, Foundation, Vuture, Dynamics CRM, WordPress, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and others
Ability to work varying hours as well as some evenings and weekends as needed
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum two (2) years’ marketing experience, preferably in legal innovation
Preferably worked in a law firm or professional services environment.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position may have indirect supervisory responsibilities with contributing business services teams.
