Position Overview

PhoenixEV is seeking an experienced Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the company’s commercial strategy, sales growth, and market positioning in the U.S. electric bus and commercial EV sectors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fleet sales, public transit procurement, dealer/distributor management, and federal or state EV incentive programs (CARB, HVIP, IRA, etc.).

This role reports directly to the CEO and will collaborate closely with the product, operations, and government affairs teams to drive market penetration and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Execution
    • Develop and execute nationwide sales strategies targeting public transit agencies, fleet operators, municipalities, and logistics companies.
    • Lead end-to-end sales cycles including RFP/RFQ processes, bid management, and contract negotiations.
    • Establish and manage dealer/distributor networks across key U.S. regions.
  • Marketing & Brand Development
    • Oversee brand positioning, marketing communications, digital campaigns, and product promotion activities.
    • Represent PhoenixEV at key industry events (e.g., ACT Expo, APTA, CALSTART conferences).
    • Develop product launch and go-to-market plans for new EV bus and commercial vehicle lines.
  • Government & Incentive Programs
    • Work with the regulatory and compliance teams to leverage federal and state incentive programs (e.g., CARB, HVIP, IRA tax credits) for sales enablement.
    • Build relationships with public agencies, utilities, and fleet electrification partners.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing sales and marketing team.
  • Establish KPIs, sales targets, and reporting systems for performance tracking.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 8–12 years of experience in sales or business development within the electric vehicle, bus, truck, or fleet electrification industries.
    • Proven track record in selling to public agencies and fleet customers.
    • Strong understanding of CARB, HVIP, FTA, and state-level EV incentive frameworks.
    • Experience in channel management and developing distributor partnerships.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
    • Data-driven and strategic thinker with strong analytical ability.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
