Afterschool Art Teacher – Paint Hive Studio

About the Role

Paint Hive Studio is seeking a passionate and creative Entry-Level Afterschool Art Class Teacher to lead engaging art sessions for K-6 students. This role is designed for individuals who love art, enjoy working with children, and want to develop their teaching skills in an after-school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers a variety of art mediums, techniques, and styles.
  • Provide hands‑on instruction and demonstrations to help students develop their artistic skills and techniques.
  • Encourage creativity, self‑expression, and critical thinking in students.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve.
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and effective art program.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up‑to‑date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Have general knowledge of art instruction practices; be able to deal effectively with students and teachers; skill in using classroom and instructional materials; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, and staff.
  • Teach multiple processes in art.
  • Foster a fun and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Understand child behavior and learning patterns.
  • Remain friendly, calm, and patient when working with children.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with the team to create visually appealing graphics and videos that showcase our After School Art Program and other services (do not photograph children’s faces).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching art to students of various ages and skill levels.
  • Proficiency in a variety of art mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Passion for art and a commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression in students.
  • Ability to pass a background check and TB skin test.

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • After-school hours (2 pm until 6 pm); scheduled days will vary.
  • Hourly pay based on experience.
  • Great opportunity to build experience in art education and youth programs.
