Afterschool Art Teacher – Paint Hive Studio
About the Role
Paint Hive Studio is seeking a passionate and creative Entry-Level Afterschool Art Class Teacher to lead engaging art sessions for K-6 students. This role is designed for individuals who love art, enjoy working with children, and want to develop their teaching skills in an after-school setting.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers a variety of art mediums, techniques, and styles.
- Provide hands‑on instruction and demonstrations to help students develop their artistic skills and techniques.
- Encourage creativity, self‑expression, and critical thinking in students.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and effective art program.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up‑to‑date with industry trends and best practices.
- Have general knowledge of art instruction practices; be able to deal effectively with students and teachers; skill in using classroom and instructional materials; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, and staff.
- Teach multiple processes in art.
- Foster a fun and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Understand child behavior and learning patterns.
- Remain friendly, calm, and patient when working with children.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborate with the team to create visually appealing graphics and videos that showcase our After School Art Program and other services (do not photograph children’s faces).
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching art to students of various ages and skill levels.
- Proficiency in a variety of art mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Passion for art and a commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression in students.
- Ability to pass a background check and TB skin test.

Work Schedule & Compensation
- After-school hours (2 pm until 6 pm); scheduled days will vary.
- Hourly pay based on experience.
- Great opportunity to build experience in art education and youth programs.
