About the Role

Paint Hive Studio is seeking a passionate and creative Entry-Level Afterschool Art Class Teacher to lead engaging art sessions for K-6 students. This role is designed for individuals who love art, enjoy working with children, and want to develop their teaching skills in an after-school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers a variety of art mediums, techniques, and styles
  • Provide hands-on instruction and demonstrations to help students develop their artistic skills and techniques
  • Encourage creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking in students
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and effective art program
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
  • General knowledge of the practices used in art instruction; ability to deal effectively with students and teachers; skill in the use of classroom and instructional materials; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, and staff.
  • Ability to teach multiple processes in art.
  • Ability to foster a fun and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Knowledge of child behavior and learning patterns.
  • Ability to work with children and remain friendly, calm, and patient at all times.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Social Media - Collaborate with the team to create visually appealing graphics and videos that showcase our After School Art Program and other services. DO NOT PHOTOGRAPH CHILDREN'S FACES!!

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Arts, Art Education, or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching art to students of various ages and skill levels
  • Proficiency in a variety of art mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Passion for art and a commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression in students
  • Ability to pass a background check and TB skin test

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • After-school hours (2 pm until 6 pm)
  • Scheduled days will vary
  • Hourly pay based on experience
  • A great opportunity to build experience in art education and youth programs
