Job Description

Position: Art Club Teaching Assistant – Classroom Experience Level: Entry-Level

Location: Various K-6 School Sites - Inland Empire

Employment Type: Part-Time Per Diem

About the Role

Paint Hive Studio is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Art Club Assistant to support our after-school art program for K-6 students. This entry-level role is perfect for someone with a passion for art and working with children, eager to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting. The assistant will help facilitate art activities, prepare materials, and support students in a fun, safe, and engaging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead instructor in setting up and organizing art activities.
  • Provide hands-on support to students, encouraging creativity and artistic expression.
  • Help prepare and distribute art materials before class and clean up afterward.
  • Offer one-on-one and small group assistance to children as they work on projects.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, encouraging respect and teamwork.
  • Ensure classroom safety by monitoring students and assisting with basic behavior management.
  • Assist in displaying student artwork and organizing small exhibitions or showcases when needed.
  • Help with classroom organization, keeping supplies stocked, and in order.
  • Communicate with the lead instructor and staff about student needs and classroom updates.

Qualifications & Skills

  • No prior teaching experience required, but a strong interest in art and education is a must.
  • Some experience working with children (babysitting, tutoring, volunteering, or similar roles) is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of art materials and techniques is a plus.
  • Energetic, friendly, patient, and able to engage young learners in a fun, supportive, and appropriate way.
  • Ability to follow instructions, be organized, and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
  • Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and the ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to assist with various classroom tasks.
  • TB testing - required
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or currently enrolled in a Fine Arts, Education, or Child Development program.
  • Previous experience working with children in a camp, after-school program, or creative setting is a plus.

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • After-school hours (2 pm until 6 pm)
  • Scheduled days will vary
  • Hourly pay based on experience
