Library Technician NF-02 (U.S. Army MWR)
Location: Milton E. Long Library, Fort Benning Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR).
Summary
Provide technical support to the library and patron services, maintain library systems, and perform related duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Register patrons, charge/discharge materials, process overdues and reserves.
- Assist with interlibrary loans and reserves, shelf library materials, prepare displays, program activities, answer basic reference questions, and assist customers in locating materials.
- Provide technical services support including basic cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and deacquisition of library materials; maintain accountability records and perform shelf inventories.
- Perform simple maintenance on the library's automated systems.
- Perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded items; recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.
Requirements
- Direct deposit and Social Security Card required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- One‑year probationary period may be required.
- Successfully complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Position, duty hours, location and/or activity are subject to change based on mission requirements.
- Shift may involve weekend, weekday, holiday and night duty.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre‑employment checks in accordance with AR 215‑3, para.2.
- May require completing a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
Qualifications
- One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, OR
- Two years of education above high school, OR
- A combination of specialized experience and education that equates to 100% of the qualification requirements.
