Senior Coordinator, Paid Media (Temporary Role)
Join as the Senior Coordinator, Paid Media (Temporary Role) at Major League Soccer. This is a temporary position starting on or about January 5, 2026 through about September 30, 2026.
This role supports buying around key areas of the MLS business. Operating as an in‑house media planner and buyer, the position will coordinate spending to support League Marketing efforts and offer Club support as needed.
The ideal candidate is an out‑of‑the‑box problem solver fascinated by the changing nature of the space and how brands connect with audiences. They will be highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working across various initiatives to deliver fan growth goals.
Responsibilities
Develop paid plans, help with execution, and manage buys against always‑on initiatives and key League Marketing pillars, including creative, message, audience targeting, segmentation, flights, and budgets.
Manage media buys applying an understanding of League goals and objectives, ranging from awareness to engagement to acquisition, and provide real‑time management to optimize during flighting periods.
Work with cross‑functional teams to produce detailed analysis of campaign spend, using performance data to extract key findings and inform future strategies.
Remain up‑to‑date on evolving best practices and strategies in the industry: broader digital/social media and paid (partner ad solutions, Betas, new opportunities, AI integration, etc.).
Support management of external agency partners to aid media buying and better analyze spend to support broader League‑wide goals.
Work cross‑functionally with Brand, Social, Business Intelligence, and Content teams to leverage key stories, and collaborate with the creative group to build appropriate creative and messaging.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
3+ years of experience required.
Experience at a media buying agency or in‑house media buying group.
Required Skills
Extensive knowledge of the paid media landscape, evolving technologies and consumer trends.
Experience developing clear and concise media plans.
Comfort buying on TV, radio, and outdoor media at local and national levels.
Strong analytical skills.
Experience with budget planning and setting.
General knowledge of evolving platforms and vendors in the MarTech space.
Prior experience managing external vendors and partners.
Excellent presenter and storyteller.
Exceptional cross‑departmental operator with the ability to work and engage with others.
Highly motivated and entrepreneurial; able to navigate multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment with a can‑do attitude.
Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail.
High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Demonstrated decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
Diligent with the ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Availability for flexible work hours and scheduling, including nights and weekends, based on matches and League tentpole moments.
Desired Skills
Knowledge of soccer a plus.
Knowledge of Spanish a plus.
Compensation Pay range: $30.00/hr – $33.00/hr; 40 hours/week (hours may vary). MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
