As a full time Uncertified Sleep Tech at North Colorado Medical Center, you will work a varied schedule of 3 12 hour night shifts, were you will learn how score throughout the night and produce the completed study in the morning.

Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a 378-bed Level II trauma center and acute care facility with over 3000 employees. Our hospital offers an array of inpatient and outpatient services including medical, pediatric, obstetric, orthopedic, surgical, heart, cancer, and critical care. As a regional medical center, we provide community-based and specialty services for a service area that includes southern Wyoming, western Nebraska, western Kansas, and northeastern Colorado. Position Summary This position performs prescribed overnight diagnostic sleep monitoring studies, which may include home sleep tests, to patients, with intermittent supervision from a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist as required by CMS guidelines. This position analyzes the results to aid clinicians with diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and care of patients. This position acts as a resource to the department.

Core Functions

Obtains artifact free sleep tracings that accurately reflect physiologic processes occurring during sleep of patients utilizing the latest technology.

Analyzes all types of sleep records of patients. Identifies and documents sleep stages and quantifies physiologic processes during the data acquisition and summarizes this information as outlined by departmental policies and procedures.

Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to troubleshoot minor problems and make adjustments as needed during the testing process.

Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician as outlined by departmental policies and procedures.

Assists with the development of department policies, procedures and processes, facilitates testing and maintains quality to achieve optimal patient results.

Assists leadership with operations, scheduling, orientation and/or training of new technical staff. May conduct or lead educational in-services and case study presentations.

Ensures quality assurance standards as outlined by departmental policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory agencies.

Performs prescribed overnight diagnostic sleep monitoring, which may include home sleep test, to patients and acts as a resource to the department with intermittent supervision from a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist as required by CMS guidelines. Internal customers: All levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED plus knowledge typically obtained through three years of direct patient care experience OR must be enrolled in or have completed training in polysomnography in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option. BLS Certification is required. Upon hire or transfer, additional classes, testing and clinical hours may be required prior to applying for the Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) exam. Requires Registry by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists within two years of hire or transfer. Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, problem‑solving abilities, and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
