Responsibilities
Creating an emotional link between the products we make and our customers is the work of our H-E-B Own Brand Team. Own Brand Partners develop products that equal or surpass national brands; our Design team's aim is to design competitively creative packaging that complements our merchandise.
As an Own Brand Designer, you'll deliver timely, high-quality consumer-based package design, focusing on project and positioning briefs, packaging specifications, and the integrity of our Own Brand (OB) strategy. You will work on a variety of projects from clean-sheets for unique product launches, new brand development, line extensions, and maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, consumer-based package designs on time.
Create clean-sheets for new product launches and line extensions.
Maintain brand consistency across all packaging.
Lead creation and delivery of digital presentations to the business team.
Collaborate heavily with Brand Managers for brand strategy and direction.
Manage feedback and revise design concepts to meet brand strategy and objectives.
Research retail market, trends, competitive landscape, and category to provide design solutions.
Communicate and present effectively in design reviews and store presentations.
Manage multiple projects and project-level expenses.
Provide direction to external vendors (e.g., photography studios, illustrators).
Proactively seek assistance from Senior Designer II and Design Manager(s) when necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a design emphasis (portfolio required).
2+ years of experience in a design-related field or the industry.
Knowledge of design software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.).
Knowledge of print methods and packaging substrates.
Print production skills (a plus).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Intermediate project management skills.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Business acumen.
Ability to collaborate and work on a team.
Experience with digital presentation tools.
Comfortable with constructive criticism and feedback loops.
Physical & Work Requirements
Function in a fast-paced retail office environment.
Occasional travel by car or plane with overnight stays.
Ability to sit for extended periods.
Occasional lifting of 20 lbs or more.
Willingness to work extended hours when required.
