GSTV offers both hybrid and remote work situations. Candidates located within commutable distance to our New York Office will be tagged to that office and are not currently considered 100% remote.
Summary
As the Sr. Manager of Audience and Industry Insights, you will be responsible for developing compelling, data-driven insights and narratives that enhance awareness and perception of GSTV among marketers, agencies, and supply-side retailers. You will synthesize first and third-party audience data to develop clear, quantitatively-driven stories in support of the company’s sales and marketing efforts. The Sr. Manager will creatively mine novel sources of consumer and industry data to develop effective positioning strategies for the company. You will also cultivate new sources of data and conduct original studies in partnership with world-class data and research firms, highlighting trends and behaviors that support the GSTV value proposition and are of interest to its customers.
Responsibilities
Develop compelling data-driven insights and narratives that enhance GSTV’s awareness, perception, and positioning in the marketplace
Source and develop quantitative support for stories establishing GSTV as a leader and expert in consumer behavior, fuel & convenience, key ad categories, and GSTV’s unique audience/environment
Analyze raw survey data, sales data, and geospatial behavioral data; draw statistically valid conclusions about audience behaviors and consumer trends
Position and communicate findings in compelling, visually appealing, easy-to-understand written and visual communications
Leverage both original and syndicated research to develop (in collaboration with the GSTV marketing team) marketing collateral and drive external narratives (PR)
Strategically synthesize data from numerous sources, including well-respected primary research partners, syndicated data services, publicly available and government databases, and location/mobility data providers
Develop white papers and thought leadership aligning GSTV with research and agency partners
Create category deep-dives / briefings for sales team
Build and maintain strong relationships with GSTV’s research and analytics vendors
Scope and manage original audience, content, and consumer research, partnering with agencies, research vendors, and internal stakeholders
Develop client and industry-specific marketing narratives, synthesizing information from proprietary research, industry resources, and consumer behavioral data
Perform ad-hoc analyses
Educate and disseminate research across the GSTV revenue organization
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experienced in managing brand lift, foot traffic lift, and sales lift measurement
Experienced in gathering data from syndicated vendors like Nielsen & MRI, and exploring external sources for industry insights (AdAge, Digiday, Insider Intelligence, etc.)
Proficient in Excel & Powerpoint
A clear, confident communicator in written and live settings (including client presentations)
Comfortable developing data-driven, sales-focused narratives; data-driven storytelling + ability to identify and communicate compelling insights derived from quantitative analysis
Enjoys and excels at explaining complex concepts simply and accurately
Crafts impactful data visualizations (charts, maps, etc.)
Strong quantitative analysis skills; deep hands‑on analytical experience
History of successful research project management (from idea to output), vendor selection and negotiation
Relationships and familiarity with a wide swath of consumer and media research, data, and analytics companies (primary, syndicated, behavioral, geospatial) and agency research teams
Competency with Excel (data cleaning, pivot tables, etc.) required; experience with software for quantitative analysis of large data sets (Python, R, Domo, Alteryx, etc.) desired
Experience with survey‑writing and experimental design
Understanding of media and advertising landscape, particularly with respect to current trends across TV, digital, and streaming
Education and/or Experience
Experience:
5‑7 years of experience in an insights role within media, advertising, marketing or consulting
Education:
Bachelors degree required, preferably in a discipline such as sociology, psychology, economics, marketing, or other quantitative areas
