Communications Student Assistant
Department: FAES | Center for Lake Erie Area Research-JM
Position: Temporary (Fixed Term)
Location: Remote
Hours: 10 hours per week (First Shift)
Job duties include:
Conduct interviews and research subjects for article development as sole author or in cooperation with other authors for newsletters and/or website
Creates educational text for display panels for the public on topics such as harmful algal blooms, pharmaceuticals in the water, wetlands and aquaculture
Develops news releases on program research and events for public awareness and promotion
Assists in the development of publication graphics and layout with graphic designer
Helps to write short scripts for YouTube researcher summaries
Develops brochures, fact sheets and posters covering outreach programming
Creates social media posts on program research and outreach
Updates media lists and publication database
Please submit 3 writing samples, preferably examples of a press release and science writing. This is a great opportunity for this writing student to build a portfolio of communication products.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
