Shivalik Furniture
Role Overview : We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Furniture Product Designer to lead design innovation across residential and commercial product lines. The ideal candidate blends aesthetic excellence, functional design thinking, and material intelligence — with a deep understanding of modern lifestyles, manufacturing techniques, and sustainability. This role is central to shaping the next generation of LOFY products — from concept to showroom.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Design & Innovation : Lead the design of new furniture collections — from sketches to 3D models and prototypes — based on emerging lifestyle trends and customer preferences. Material & Finish Strategy : Work closely with sourcing and production teams to select appropriate materials, finishes, and joinery techniques for durability, aesthetics, and cost-efficiency. Design Research : Conduct global benchmarking, trend analysis, and ergonomics research to drive innovation in product categories. Customer-Centric Approach : Translate user needs into thoughtful furniture experiences — blending comfort, form, function, and emotion. Prototyping & Sampling : Oversee prototyping with factory teams, ensuring first samples meet both design vision and production feasibility. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with factory heads, marketing teams, and brand managers to align product designs with positioning and brand language. Showroom & Digital Alignment : Ensure designs translate effectively across physical displays and 3D/virtual representations (for ecommerce, Unreal Engine, AR/VR, etc.). Sustainable Design : Integrate sustainability principles across product lifecycles — from raw material selection to modularity and recyclability. Key Skills:
Design Expertise : Strong foundation in furniture ergonomics, joinery, modular design, and user lifestyle mapping. 3D Modeling : Proficiency in software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360. Bonus: experience with rendering tools like Keyshot, Blender, or Unreal Engine. Trend Sensitivity : Eye for design trends in global and Indian contexts — from Japandi and Bauhaus to contemporary Indian minimalism. Material Mastery : In-depth knowledge of wood, laminates, veneers, metals, fabrics, and new-age composites. Technical Drawings : Ability to create detailed technical specifications and BOMs for production and QC teams. Manufacturing Knowledge : Practical understanding of CNC processes, carpentry, PU polishing, and modular production systems. Communication : Ability to clearly present concepts and rationale through mood boards, prototypes, and client walkthroughs. Design Thinking Mindset : Experience in human-centered design and iterative product development. Qualifications:
Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, or related field from reputed institutes (e.g., NID, CEPT, MIT ID, JJ School). Experience : 8–10 years in furniture product design, with a portfolio showcasing successful launches across categories like sofas, beds, wardrobes, modular kitchens, office furniture, etc. Preferred : Prior experience in working with premium Indian or global furniture brands. Exposure to D2C, modular retail, or OEM settings is a plus.
