About the Role We are seeking a creative and detail‑oriented Product Industrial Designer to join our design team. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and refining innovative products that balance aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability. You’ll collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and sales, to bring products from concept through production while maintaining design integrity and user experience.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute design concepts that align with Vari’s brand, product strategy, and user needs
Create sketches, renderings, and 3D models to visualize design intent
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure feasibility, cost‑effectiveness, and scalability of designs
Conduct material and process research to support innovative and sustainable design solutions
Translate design concepts into detailed specifications and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
Participate in product prototyping, testing, and iterative refinement
Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies
Research design trends, materials, finishes, and emerging technologies relevant to workplace furniture
Support cost‑engineering and value‑analysis efforts to ensure products meet margin targets without compromising quality
Contribute to a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field
3+ years of experience in product or industrial design (consumer goods, contract or office furniture, electronics, or related industry preferred)
Proficiency in design tools such as SolidWorks, Rhino, KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Fusion 360
Strong visualization and sketching skills, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively
Understanding of manufacturing processes (panel processing, sheet metal, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
Excellent sense of form, color, materials, and ergonomics
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment
Portfolio showcasing a range of design projects from concept to production
Preferred Skills
Experience with user‑centered design and usability testing
Knowledge of sustainability and circular design principles
Familiarity with design thinking methodologies
Experience working in an agile product development environment
