Job Summary The Business Operations Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure all areas of the company operate smoothly and efficiently. This position serves as a central hub between departments -- including design, warehouse, finance and administration -- helping to identify bottlenecks, drive forward key administrative initiatives and streamline workflows. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong grasp on both creative and logistical processes, capable of balancing day-to-day oversight with long term strategic planning. This role is a vital member of the team able to independently execute on complex projects, maintain company standards and ensure solutions-oriented progress is made in a fast-paced environment.
Expected Qualifications
4 – 6 years of experience in Operations, Arts Administration, General Management or related field.
Demonstrated ability to execute complex workflows across multiple departments or teams.
Strong understanding of events, theater or live production industries.
Proven experience managing budgets, reconciling expenses, and supporting financial reporting.
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and other business management tools.
Exceptional organization and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across diverse teams.
Demonstrated leadership ability and comfort in face-paced, high-volume environments.
Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement practice process improvements.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Unflappable, adaptable and ability to maintain positivity in a fast-paced environment.
High School Diploma Required, Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Administration, Business, or a related field is preferred.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in HR functions such as recruiting, onboarding and employee development.
Familiarity with bookkeeping or financial management software.
Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts or procurement processes.
Background in creative production environments (lighting, event design, music, or performing arts).
Track record of successfully implementing systems or processes to support organizational growth.
Master’s Degree in Arts Administration, Business, or Operations Management is a plus.
Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Director of Operations to oversee day-to-day operations across departments ensuring smooth workflows, clear communication and timely project execution.
Execute on back-end administrative tasks related to the day-to-day running of the company.
Spearhead special operational and administrative projects as assigned.
Assist the Director of Operations to supervise operational processes with the lens of improving productivity, accountability and cross-departmental collaboration.
Partner with the Director of Operations and bookkeeping team to manage company finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense oversight.
Partner with leadership to monitor KPIs for business performance, growth and team success.
Serve as key liaison between staff and executive leadership, ensuring effective two-way communication and follow through.
Co-lead HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding and supporting team managers with hiring and evaluation processes.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts and operational logistics to support ongoing production and business activities.
Swing into Production and Logistics duties to assist in crewing, logistics, external communications and more as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits This is a full-time exempt salaried position with a salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience. This is paid on a bi-weekly basis and includes health insurance, employer-matched 401k, annual bonuses and other benefits.
