The Architectural Designer prepares clear, complete, and accurate construction drawings and plans for new or modified structures using Revit and other 3D modeling (BIM) software. These plans are developed from drawings, detailed or rough sketches, notes, specifications, and calculations provided by engineers, architects, or clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
Use Revit and 3D modeling (BIM) software—as well as plotting/printing equipment—to prepare basic design sketches, perspective drawings, preliminary layouts, and construction documents.
Assist the Architect/Engineer with incorporating building code notations, regulatory requirements, zoning references, and specifications into project drawings.
Support the Architect with product specification research and review of manufacturer/shop drawings to ensure alignment with company design criteria.
Set up the project documentation structure and coordinate document distribution with the Architect, Project Manager, and other relevant team members.
Revise and update Revit and BIM drawings as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain project close-out documentation, including as-built record drawings and archive files.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS Education:
Associate’s degree in architectural design or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience using Revit and 3D modeling (BIM) software preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Proficient in Revit and 3D modeling (BIM) drafting; working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
Strong understanding of drafting principles, practices, methods, and techniques.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
General knowledge of architectural principles and construction processes.
Ability to prepare accurate and detailed construction drawings and documents using Revit and BIM software (including plotting and printing equipment) based on input from architects, engineers, or clients.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings, specifications, and maps.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities effectively.
Organized and detail-oriented; capable of maintaining accurate and accessible project files.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, clients, and consultants.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit, talk, and hear for extended periods.
Use of hands, arms, and fingers to operate a computer and handle construction materials
Finger dexterity to complete paperwork and operate a keyboard and mouse.
Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
Ability to lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color recognition.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily a standard office environment.
May occasionally be exposed to active construction sites and varying weather conditions during site visits or project inspections.
Noise levels can range from moderate to loud depending on the work location.
