Job Summary Provides primary responsibility for providing education to students.
Essential Functions
Prepares and delivers lectures, leads discussions, and performs other activities related to and meeting course requirements.
Maintains course syllabi and provides each student with a written statement of course requirements at the beginning of each semester.
Conducts appropriate evaluations of students’ performances and assigns grades on the basis of such evaluations.
Maintains records of students’ grades and attendance according to university requirements.
Provides access to students through regular hours and involvement on campus.
Participates in the development and revision of course content, textbook/equipment selection, instructional materials, and teaching assignment/scheduling.
Provides academic and career advisement and assistance to students as appropriate.
Maintains professional skills and subject expertise through study and involvement in professional organizations.
Minimum Education and Experience
A minimum of an earned graduate degree from an accredited higher education institution and a minimum of 18 credit hours in the subject field at the graduate level. In some unique instances, extraordinary professional experiences may be accepted in lieu of a graduate degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Decision‑making and organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook.
Strong understanding of the pedagogies of university‑level teaching, particularly for first‑generation university students.
Good knowledge of principles and theory of teaching field.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to exercise critical human‑relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with students and university community.
Supervisory Responsibility N/A
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for lengthy periods. Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
