Offer Description The Dean of the Faculty of Animation and Experimental Film at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan announces an open competition for the position of

Assistant

at the Department of Experimental Film, Faculty of Animation and Experimental Film.

Candidates eligible to apply are those who meet the requirements specified in

Article 119 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science

(Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) as well as in

§83 and §§103–108 of the Statute of the University of the Arts Poznan .

Skills/Qualifications

The person employed as an

Assistant

will support the teaching and research processes in the field of

experimental film

and the broadly understood

moving image , participating in the implementation of artistic projects, workshops, and student consultations.

An additional responsibility of the Assistant will be to

coordinate the presence of the Department of Experimental Film of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan in social media , as well as to

co-create strategies for communication and archiving of artistic activities .

The Assistant is expected to be

actively engaged in the life of the Department , to

co-develop projects , and to

support students . Openness to experimentation, empathy, ethical awareness, and the ability to engage in dialogue are highly valued qualities.

Specific Requirements

Master’s degree

in Visual Arts or Film.

Documented artistic activity

in the field of experimental film, video art, film installations, or other forms of moving image.

Knowledge of art history and theory , contemporary visual practices, and basic concepts in aesthetics, image theory, and cultural studies.

Ability to develop conceptual work

in film – from idea and research to production and presentation.

Proficiency in production and post-production tools.

Ability to analyze and interpret

within an interdisciplinary context.

Familiarity with Art-Based Research methods

– understanding art as a form of cognitive and social inquiry and reflection.

Ability to work with students

in a spirit of partnership, critical thinking, and creative experimentation.

Openness to interdisciplinary collaboration , e.g., in the field of new technologies.

Participation in exhibitions, reviews, or art-oriented film festivals , in Poland or abroad.

Excellent command of Polish and English , both spoken and written; knowledge of other foreign languages will be an asset.

Languages ENGLISH Level Excellent

Selection process

The recruitment process includes:

Evaluation by the competition committee

of the documents submitted by the candidate.

Interview with the candidate , which includes:

Presentation of individual or collaborative works

(or their documentation) in which the candidate played a significant role, particularly in the discipline for which they are applying,

Presentation of teaching and organizational experience.

Assessment by the committee

of the candidate’s compliance with the competition requirements.

The competition committee will evaluate the candidates’

knowledge in the field of art ,

artistic achievements , and

aptitude for teaching , and will then select the candidate to be appointed to the position of

Assistant

at the

Faculty of Animation and Experimental Film .

The committee reserves the right to

declare the competition inconclusive .

Competition Resolution: The

interview

will take place on

2 December 2025 (Wednesday) at 2:00 PM , in

Room 203, Building C, Plac Wielkopolski 9, Poznań .

Competition Results: Each candidate will be

notified of the results

on

3 December 2025 after 10:00 AM , in

Room 401, Building C, Plac Wielkopolski 9, Poznań , and also via

email .

Additional comments

The

Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan

reserves the right to invite only

selected candidates

for an interview, without informing the others, and to notify

only the selected candidate

of the final outcome of the recruitment process.

The decision regarding the employment of a candidate is the

exclusive and sovereign right of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan

and does not require justification.

The candidate selected through the competition will be required to

obtain an appropriate certificate confirming their ability to perform the duties of the position .

If such a certificate is not obtained, the University reserves the right to

appoint the next-ranked candidate

from the competition.
