Onsite role
Responsible for interfacing and collaborating with engineering to ensure accurate and timely delivery of Military Standard (MIL-STD) manuals. This candidate will also be responsible for the creation of MIL-STD and / or contractor format work instructions for field level retro fit activities.
Responsibilities:
Conduct an analysis of designs and maintenance-related data necessary to author and coordinate illustrations and parts data for technical manuals, briefings, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and systems.
Study engineering sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples
Consult with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather the necessary information to author/illustrate Operator Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, and generate Repair Parts and Special Tool Lists (RPSTLs) for ground vehicles, systems, and equipment
Responsible for technical accuracy and conducting internal validation
Support logistics demonstrations and customer verification activities
Qualifications
2+ years of experience writing MIL-STD technical manuals
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (models, blueprints, schematics, hydraulic, and pneumatic flows).
Experience with Arbortext XML Editor and DOD IADS software
Proven mechanical or electrical aptitude
Preferred to have experience writing powertrain and body/chassis DTC diagnostics
Experience writing for Diesel automotive and heavy-wheeled vehicles.
Familiarity with logistics, systems, subsystems, and components associated with heavy and/or medium mobile system operation and maintenance
Experience writing to two-level DoD maintenance concept
Experience with XML tagging
Experience authoring in XML using MIL-STD-2361 Document Type Definitions (DTDs), and with MIL-STD-40051-1B/C, MIL-STD- 40051-2B/C, or MIL-STD-38784
Proven results-oriented performance with excellent problem-solving abilities, decision-making, and organizational skills, as well as the capability to adapt to change
Experience creating training documentation
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
Clearance Requirement
The applicant must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC)
