St. Matthew - St. Gregory the Great Parish is seeking a full-time Director of Music Ministries for St. Gregory the Great church to lead our vibrant parish music program. This is more than a music position - it is a ministry. Rooted in the rich tradition of Catholic liturgy, the Director fosters sung prayer that deepens our community's encounter with Christ.

About the Role

The Director of Music Ministries is both a skilled professional and a pastoral leader,

responsible for ensuring that music is integral to the prayer, worship, and mission of our

parish. The Director will:

• Serve as principal organist and pianist for three weekend liturgies, as well as

Holy Days, weddings, funerals, and sacramental celebrations.

• Plan and coordinate music for liturgies throughout the liturgical year in

collaboration with the Pastor and pastoral staff.

• Direct and rehearse the adult choir, while recruiting,training, and mentoring cantors, section leaders, and instrumentalists.

• Support the active participation of the entire assembly in sung prayer.

• Supervise the parish's music budget, music library, church sound systems, and instruments; ensure copyright compliance.

• Create worship aids and assist in the liturgical formation of parishioners and

ministers.

• Represent the parish in professional organizations (e.g., NPM, AGO) and pursue ongoing formation in music and liturgy.

• Direct and accompany the adult choir each Sunday at 10:00 AM Mass. Organize and lead weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals.

• Provide for regular maintenance of the church's musical instruments and and oversee their use.

Approximately 10-12 hours per week.

Requirements

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be:

• An accomplished organist/pianist, with training and experience in choral

conducting, and demonstrated excellence in parish music ministry.

• Knowledgeable in Catholic liturgy and sacred music, both traditional and

contemporary. A collaborative leader who works well with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners.

• A practicing Catholic with a sense of vocation to serve the Church through

music.

• Holder of a Bachelor's degree in music (required); Master's degree preferred.

• Experienced (5-10 years) in directing choirs, accompanying liturgy, and leading parish music programs.
