If you've encountered a space that felt exactly right and immediately wondered how to replicate that experience across 100 locations, this position was designed with you in mind. We are not seeking a concept designer. We are seeking the systems architect who can establish a national function capable of consistently producing premium, brand-coherent, and pedagogically sound environments at scale.
At 2 Hour Learning, our approach inverts the traditional school day. Two hours of concentrated academic instruction. The remainder dedicated to passion pursuits, physical activity, and experiential learning. This fundamental restructuring requires spaces that reflect the same level of intentionality — and we need a leader to drive that transformation. You will design the systems, set the standards, and build the teams that guarantee every campus fulfills this commitment. You will oversee an expanding team of regional design leaders and vendor partners, coordinate priorities across departments, and pinpoint the design breakthroughs that enhance experience, strengthen perception, and improve retention.
This is not a role for detached creative vision. You will be in the field, coaching team members, inspecting installations, and iterating on the operational playbook in real time. You will construct the infrastructure that scales exceptional environments — and ensure it operates effectively.
What You Will Be Doing
Establish and direct a national Space & Design function, encompassing team architecture, vendor ecosystem, and accountability frameworks
Create and refine modular standards, brand identity elements, and technical documentation to enable consistent implementation across varied campus types
Synchronize design spending with CapEx planning, enrollment targets, and operational realities using data‑driven decision‑making
Discover, test, and implement design innovations that elevate student experience, strengthen parent confidence, and enhance staff engagement
Function as a strategic collaborator with cross‑functional leadership
What You Won’t Be Doing
Personally designing individual spaces — your responsibility is to scale the talent and infrastructure that execute
Pursuing standalone upgrades or prestige projects — every initiative must connect to measurable outcomes and return on investment
Functioning as an isolated creative authority — this position is fully integrated into planning, implementation, and measurement
Leading remotely — you will travel frequently to remain connected to on‑ground execution and team growth
Preserving existing approaches — you will be accountable for continuously advancing and refining the function
Senior Vice President Space and Design Key Responsibilities Establish and direct a scalable design function that guarantees every campus produces a premium, brand‑consistent, and educationally aligned environment — with quantifiable influence on experience quality, enrollment performance, and student retention.
Basic Requirements
8+ years leading physical environments across a multi‑location organization, with responsibility for at least 25+ sites
Direct experience creating spaces for UHNW clientele or luxury brands, with demonstrated ability to identify premium quality in every dimension
Documented success building and managing a team, directing external partnerships, and establishing a national deployment function
Track record developing and refining standards‑driven design frameworks for varied site portfolios
Capacity for strategic planning in collaboration with cross‑functional teams
Refined aesthetic judgment and discernment, combined with operational rigor and financial accountability
Based in the U.S., authorized to work without visa sponsorship, and willing to travel 50% or more
Nice-to‑have Requirements
Experience in rapidly expanding, brand‑conscious sectors such as boutique hospitality, premium retail, or distributed education
Portfolio showcasing both physical design quality and capacity to scale systems across multiple properties
Polished communication abilities with experience presenting to executive leadership, boards, or investor audiences
