Basic Function
Part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors may be assigned to teaching duties at our home campus or other campus sites. Faculty will teach music courses ranging from introductory to advanced level, including day, evening, weekend, and distance‑learning sessions. They will also promote student recruitment, participate in articulation activities with local schools and colleges, maintain subject‑matter currency, revise curriculum, use computer and multimedia technologies, and engage collegially in departmental and college professional activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in a full range of music courses.
- Teach at multiple campus locations and in varied class schedules.
- Use multiple teaching methodologies, including online platforms.
- Participate in student recruitment and program articulation activities.
- Develop, revise, and assess curriculum.
- Use computer and multimedia technologies to enhance learning.
- Engage collaboratively with colleagues, students, and the college community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Music; or Bachelor’s in Music and Master’s in Humanities; or valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Music at the California Community College level; or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
- Accredited degrees and credits; foreign degrees evaluated per Title V Section 53406.
- Ability to demonstrate that the applicant’s education, experience, and accomplishments are equivalent to the stated minimum qualifications.
