On-Call Communications Specialist, American Indian/Alaska Native Audience Focus
Join us to support communications efforts focused on engaging Tribal nations across health, transportation, environment, climate, energy, disaster management, and education. This on‑call/freelancer role can range from zero to 30 hours per week and is remote.
Description
We are committed to creating audience‑focused, authentic, and relevant campaigns. As a Communications Specialist, you will work with local and remote teams to develop, execute, and evaluate communication programs that reach American Indian/Alaska Native Tribes and nations.
Responsibilities
- Leverage an understanding of marketing and communications to support campaigns that engage American Indian/Alaska Native Tribes and nations.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop, execute, and evaluate communication programs and products.
- Provide audience‑centric support for partnership programs, earned media activities, social media engagement, and paid media efforts.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, or related majors, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of directly applicable experience in communications or a PR agency setting, or 2 years with an advanced degree.
- Registered member of a federally recognized indigenous tribe.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of directly applicable experience.
- Lived experience on a reservation.
Professional Skills
- Experience supporting strategy development and execution of American Indian and Alaska Native health‑related and behavior‑change campaigns.
- Interest in working with federal and state‑level agencies.
- Ability to authentically engage Tribes and nations for partnership, media, and other engagement strategies.
- Experience writing content for multiple channels, including collateral materials, social media, websites, and other media.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills, and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the company and client.
- Strong collaboration skills with diverse teams.

Pay Range
$73,722.00 – $125,327.00 (Nationwide Remote Office)
