About the Division of Development and Alumni Relations – This division advances the university’s goals through private financial support, alumni donor relationships, and student career development. The Office of Communications functions as an in‑house marketing agency, designing mailers, building websites, writing, filming, photographing, marketing events, and collaborating across units. We partner with the Marketing & Communications division and develop templates, tools, and strategies to engage alumni and donors.

Position Summary Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Coordinator develops and implements marketing, advertising, and public relations plans for the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). The role works closely with 2–6 DAR units, sets and guides marketing strategy, and manages the on‑deadline execution of communications tactics such as websites, print materials, solicitation campaigns, engagement initiatives, event support, and more. The Coordinator enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing efforts that promote fundraising, career development, and alumni engagement.

Responsibilities

Lead project planning and project management for 2–6 DAR units.

Cultivate relationships between DARCOMM and units to foster collaboration and support DAR/UGA goals.

Lead marketing/communications project planning, identify creative solutions, and establish and maintain project timelines.

Follow DARCOMM workflow processes and leverage the project management system for efficient completion.

Collaborate with creative, communications, writing, and digital colleagues to ensure high‑quality, accurate deliverables.

Maintain a positive attitude and serve target audiences and UGA colleagues in a friendly, supportive manner.

Attend unit‑led events/programs as required.

Develop high‑quality copy and support content creation for unit‑driven projects, ensuring AP Style, correct grammar, and brand consistency.

Contribute to concepting and storytelling for projects and assignments.

Help maintain DAR websites associated with assigned units, perform simple web updates, and ensure content meets AP Style and brand standards.

Serve as a marketing and communications resource and expert for assigned units, staying updated on trends and opportunities.

Assist in managing projects that are part of DAR and UGA initiatives, maintaining flexibility and collaborating with appropriate personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with project management systems (e.g., ASANA, Trello, Basecamp).

Experience in media relations, digital advertising, email marketing, and/or social marketing.

Ability to manage 30+ projects with varying deadlines concurrently.

Knowledge of AP Style writing.

An eye for design or knowledge of design programs is a bonus.

Experience in higher education and/or fundraising.

Advertised Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Public Sector Exempt (FLSA: Exempt, FTE: 1.00, Classification: Public Relations Pro I).

Proposed Starting Date: 02/01/2026.
