Position Summary
Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Coordinator develops and implements marketing, advertising, and public relations plans for the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR), specifically working closely with 2‑6 units within the division. The role sets and guides marketing strategy in partnership with unit and division leadership while managing the on‑deadline execution of communications tactics such as websites, print materials, solicitation campaigns, engagement initiatives, event support, and more. The Coordinator also identifies opportunities for collaboration across the division, supports creation of on‑brand and accurate content for press releases, webpages, emails, print materials, events, and more—either by writing or delegating. They collaborate with writers and freelancers, delegate tasks, and manage timelines to ensure all deliverables are ready on time, on budget, and accurate. The Coordinator enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing efforts that promote fundraising, career development, and alumni engagement among UGA’s many target audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with project management systems such as ASANA, Trello, Basecamp, etc.
Experience in media relations, digital advertising, email marketing, and/or social marketing.
Ability to manage 30+ projects with varying deadlines concurrently.
Knowledge of AP Style writing.
Design skills or familiarity with design programs is a bonus.
Experience in higher education and/or fundraising.
Demonstrates behavior that supports UGA’s mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities Lead project planning and project management for 2‑6 DAR units. (65%)
Cultivate relationships between DAR Communications and units to foster a collaborative environment.
Lead marketing/communications project planning in partnership with units and identify creative solutions that help DAR and units achieve strategic goals.
Establish and maintain project timelines, proactively supporting colleagues to meet deadlines and communicate delays in advance.
Follow DARCOMM’s workflow processes and leverage the project management system to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
Collaborate with and seek input from creative, communications, writing, and digital colleagues.
Ensure DARCOMM consistently produces high‑quality, accurate work.
Maintain a positive attitude and serve both target audiences and UGA colleagues in a friendly, supportive manner.
Attend unit‑led events/programs as required for on‑site execution.
Develop copy and support content creation for unit‑driven projects. (15%)
Produce high‑quality content and final products that follow AP Style, use correct grammar, and reflect the UGA brand positively.
Contribute to concepting and storytelling for projects, even when not responsible for the final product.
Understand timelines and adhere to deadlines.
Collaborate with and seek input from creative, communications, writing, and digital colleagues.
Help maintain DAR websites associated with assigned units and contribute content to all DAR sites. (10%)
Lead planning and delegate responsibilities for website maintenance.
Make simple web updates that support overall communication strategies.
Ensure web content follows AP Style, uses correct grammar, remains factually correct and current, and reflects the UGA brand positively.
Guide and advise assigned units on marketing and communications best practices that will help them achieve their strategic goals. (5%)
Serve as a marketing and communications resource and expert for units.
Provide knowledge of resources and tools that can help units when DARCOMM cannot execute.
Stay updated on marketing, advertising, and public relations trends.
Assist in managing projects not driven by units and part of DAR and UGA initiatives. (5%)
Maintain flexibility to assist with emerging projects.
Collaborate with DAR/UGA personnel and creative, communications, writing, and digital teams on concepting or production needs.
Understand timelines and adhere to deadlines.

Navigate complex projects and ensure timely completion.
