Position:

Social Media & Content Manager Status:

Full Time, Non-Exempt Location:

Nashville, TN Reports To:

Director of Marketing Updated:

October 2025 Application Deadline:

November 28, 2025

The Nashville Entrepreneur Center (NEC) is a 501(c)3 non‑profit organization founded in 2010 to support people and businesses through every stage of their entrepreneurial journey. We exist to help make Nashville the best place to start and grow a business by increasing the likelihood of success for entrepreneurs.

ABOUT THE ROLE This Isn’t a Desk Job. In a typical week, you’ll spend 70% of your time in the field – at pitch competitions, accelerator sessions, or member happy hours. You might film a three‑minute interview with a founder who just closed their Series A, edit it on your phone, and post it before you get home. You’ll spend the other 30% planning which stories to chase next and analyzing what’s actually driving people to apply to our programs, become a member, or support the NEC.

You shoot content fast using your phone, a small LED light, and a wireless mic. You’re comfortable walking up to people you’ve never met and starting conversations that become stories. This role is tasked with building community, not merely an audience. You know the difference between 10,000 followers who scroll past and 20 people who actually complete a CTA.

The Social Media & Content Manager plays a critical role in managing the NEC’s online presence to build community and drive key success metrics for the organization.

Job Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include:

Content Creation

Maintain consistent content output of 8‑10 pieces weekly

Shoot/Edit mobile video and produce content quickly

Write captions on social media posts that make the audience think, “I want to be there”

Identify and curate success stories and stories worth telling through events, team collaboration, and talking with founders/members

Social Media Management

Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms quickly to cultivate a sense of community among the audience

Cover 15‑20 events monthly to capture content and tell the story of the NEC and its members

Community Storytelling and Event Coverage

Consistently attend events during and outside business hours to capture content. When a founder wins pitch night, you’re already there filming their reaction, and you interview them for 90 seconds about what this means for their business

Conduct interviews with founders, advisors, investors, program participants, etc., asking them questions that get them to say interesting things

Produce real‑time content, understanding that the moment matters more than the production value

Analytics and Performance Tracking

Monitor metrics that drive measurable business results and align with the NEC’s KPIs, not vanity metrics. When someone applies to our accelerator and says they found us on Instagram, that matters. When a post gets 500 likes but zero applications, we will figure out why.

Produce monthly reports with recommendations to improve performance and support KPI achievement

Strategic Brand Positioning

Maintain the NEC’s voice across all platforms, posts, messages, etc.

Create clear CTAs that drive meaningful results like program applications, member sign‑ups, donations, etc.

Monitor trends on social media platforms and adapt accordingly

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications ABOUT YOU The ideal candidate for this position thrives in an agile and innovative environment with demonstrated experience working with a cross‑functional team. Qualifications include:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in a related field

Proven experience managing social media and creating content for business or startup audiences

Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to capture real‑time content, including attendance at 2–3 evening events per week

Reliable transportation for traveling to events across Nashville and the surrounding areas

Proven ability to shoot and edit mobile video that drives engagement – you know how to frame shots, capture clean audio, and edit quickly using tools like CapCut, Canva, or similar platforms

Portfolio demonstrating video content that generated shares, saves, and meaningful engagement (not just views)

Deep understanding of platform‑specific content strategies – what performs on LinkedIn (professional storytelling, founder insights, program outcomes) versus Instagram (energy, authentic moments, behind‑the‑scenes content)

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to approach strangers confidently, conduct compelling interviews, and make people comfortable on camera within seconds

Strategic thinking ability – you see patterns in content performance and connect those insights to business outcomes like program applications and brand reputation

Experience building online communities through authentic engagement, not just broadcasting to followers

Bias toward action – you ship content quickly rather than perfecting it endlessly

Self‑starter mentality who can identify stories worth telling

Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities

Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Workspace applications

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Genuine curiosity about entrepreneurship and the startup ecosystem, and commitment to the mission of the NEC

Paid time off, plus 15 annual holidays, including time off between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day
