Classification Title: Program Mgr Working Title: Assistant Director of Media & Digital Relations Brief Position Overview: The Assistant Director of Media & Digital Relations reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director of Communications. This full‑time, 12‑month position is responsible for coordinating media and event management functions for Bobcat Athletics while serving as the primary media contact for Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Women’s Tennis, and Ski, and assisting with other sports as assigned. The role also provides limited graphic design support and contributes to all digital and social media content for Bobcat Athletics.

Position Details General Statement The Assistant Director of Media & Digital Relations plays a critical role in supporting the communications, digital engagement, and storytelling efforts of Montana State Athletics. This position serves as the primary contact for Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Women’s Tennis, and Ski and assists with departmental digital communication, including website oversight, content creation, and management of all social media outlets and sport‑specific digital platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as primary media contact for Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Women’s Tennis, and Ski, including managing home events, coordinating the media guide and other publications, and managing media relation efforts for those assigned programs.

Oversee MSU Bobcats website for assigned sports, acting as a department liaison for Sidearm, Bobcat Sports Properties and other external constituents. Maintain accuracy of the site’s dynamic elements, manage web‑related audio and video content, and ensure currency and accuracy of rosters, schedules, and bio sketches.

Coordinate streaming of home events on the ESPN+ Platform with Montana PBS for assigned sports.

In coordination with University Communications and the Athletics Creative Services team, and in compliance with Montana State University’s social media policy, oversee MSU Athletics social media efforts for assigned sports, assist coaches and other departmental personnel with social messaging, and serve as department co‑manager/co‑supervisor for all Athletics ancillary social media outlets.

Ensure compliance with all Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Montana State University, NCAA and Big Sky Conference policies, rules, and regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications or other members of the Athletics leadership team.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

At least one year of full‑time or two years of internship/graduate assistantship experience in the sports information field and experience in operations and digital marketing.

Demonstrated experience managing media relations for an assigned sport.

Strong writing and desktop publishing skills (preferably InDesign and Photoshop), experience with NCAA Live Stats software, web maintenance, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media channels.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and customer service.

Knowledge of basic NCAA rules and regulations.

Problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Experience in a media liaison role.

Experience with Sports Photography.

Knowledge of basic Big Sky Conference rules and regulations.

The Successful Candidate Will Be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays and must be willing to travel with teams occasionally.
