What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)

Submit and obtain authorization requests for surgical services performed by physicians

Maintain expertise on authorization requirements by payer and order type

Monitor authorization work queues for pending or expiring authorizations

Initiate Peer to Peer communication with payers to support reimbursement needs

Troubleshoot authorization denials and work to overturn payer-related issues

What is Required (Qualifications)

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred

Minimum of three years’ experience in a healthcare environment, preferably with prior authorization experience

Strong understanding of HIPAA laws and requirements

Knowledge of managed care, third‑party payer benefits, and reimbursement requirements

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with EPIC or comparable EMR systems preferred

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

Certification in CCS, CCS‑P, CPC, or specialty coding

Previous medical office experience

Two years of experience in reviewing medical records for National Coverage Determinations (NCD) and Local Coverage Determinations (LCD)

Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

Demonstrated experience in delivering successful customer service
