Location: Kissimmee, Florida. This front‑line position focuses on customer service and supports patrons, collections, technology, and programs.
Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service and assists patrons with all Library transactions (cash handling, check‑in/out, card issuance, fee collection, etc.).
- Offers instruction on Library services, resources, and technology; connects patrons to services.
- Supports Library programs, events, and outreach through promotion and marketing.
- Shelves materials and maintains a tidy, orderly collection.
- Handles patron conduct or safety issues and escalates to appropriate management.
- Upholds the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read and Freedom to View statements; supports discretion of materials.
- Follows all legal and privacy requirements related to patron records.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Preferred: two years of library experience; basic knowledge of library systems and databases.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Comfort with technology (computers, cell phones, Microsoft Office).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
- Must be able to freely move throughout the Library, lift/push up to 25–35 pounds, work in confined spaces, walk, bend, and reach.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent movement within the location; retrieve items from high shelves.
- Lift/push up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 35 pounds.
- Work in confined spaces; walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb.
