Multimedia Meteorologist
University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications—ranked the No. 1 public university by The Wall Street Journal—is seeking a dynamic and forward‑thinking Multimedia Meteorologist to join our distinguished weather team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to live and produced severe weather coverage across every public television and radio station in Florida and South Carolina, covering the nation’s most extreme severe weather and environmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present daily forecast products for radio and TV, as well as digital, social, and mobile platforms.
- Deliver compelling weather content across a diverse media portfolio, including WRUF-AM/FM/TV, WUFT-TV/FM, the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN), and affiliated social media partners.
- Interpret weather data, reports, maps, and model outputs to create reliable forecasts and produce multi‑platform content.
- Mentor and guide UF students through the Meteorologists‑In‑Training Program Immersive Experiences.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Baron graphics (or other compatible technology).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field and a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Baron graphics systems (or other related weather computer programs).
- Ability to communicate complex weather information clearly and compellingly to a broad, multi‑market audience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism/communications with a strong understanding of meteorology.
- Two years of broadcasting experience and science/environmental‑related reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and creative thinking.
- National Weather Association (NWA) or American Meteorological Society (AMS) seals.
