VP of Space and Design, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) – $200,000/year USD
Join Crossover for an exciting role as VP of Space and Design, creating memorable learning environments that support a pioneering educational model.
This role differs from conventional design positions—you will be involved in execution, not just theory, guiding vendors, resolving installation issues and refining rollouts. You will spend 50‑75% of your time traveling and working on‑site.
What You Will Be Doing
Establish modular, self‑service design frameworks for layout, FF&E, finishes, and play areas across diverse campus environments.
Perform on‑site evaluations using standardized assessment tools to measure alignment with brand standards and identify high‑value enhancements.
Produce detailed, visual, budgeted recommendations for spatial improvements that support pedagogy, brand identity, and family engagement.
Manage vendor implementation on site, maintaining adherence to design standards, financial parameters, and schedules through active quality assurance.
Complete the feedback cycle after installation by recording successes and failures, then revising operational guides to reflect lessons learned.
What You Won’t Be Doing
Designing custom, boutique environments that cannot be systematically scaled or duplicated.
Delivering specifications and disengaging. You own the entire process from evaluation through installation.
Waiting for complete information. The role values proactive thinking, rapid iteration, and sound judgment under uncertainty.
Generating unrestricted creative concepts from zero. The work is tightly aligned with brand identity and operational requirements.
Operating remotely. This position requires 50‑75% on‑site travel.
Key Responsibilities Guarantee that each campus provides a premium, brand‑consistent, and pedagogically effective physical environment through the development and execution of scalable modular design systems that maintain quality standards.
Basic Requirements
5+ years of experience designing and implementing multi‑site environments in education, retail, hospitality, or co‑working sectors.
Portfolio demonstrating completed projects that integrate aesthetic excellence with operational feasibility.
Proven ability to develop scalable, standards‑driven design systems rather than singular custom environments.
Hands‑on management of vendor implementation, including quality control of installations and adherence to project timelines.
Excellent documentation capabilities and communication skills with cross‑functional teams, particularly non‑design partners.
Available and willing to travel extensively, 50‑75% of the time, throughout the United States.
U.S.-based and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice‑to‑have Requirements
Background designing premium environments with rigorous quality expectations, such as boutique hospitality, luxury retail, or high‑end residential projects.
Proficiency with spatial documentation platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, Figma, or comparable tools.
Intuitive ability to identify what elevates a space to premium quality, even within constrained budgets.
