Our nationally recognized pulmonary rehabilitation program comprises a team of respiratory therapists and pulmonary specialists dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with chronic lung disease. Our program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), reflecting our commitment to high‑quality patient care.

Under the direction of the Clinic Manager, the Scheduling & Authorization Coordinator performs and coordinates general front office duties, including reception, co‑pay collection, appointment scheduling, referral and authorization. The coordinator completes registration for new or previously registered patients, registers bulk accounts as needed, verifies insurance eligibility for outpatient services, and communicates clearly and effectively with patient, clinic staff, and providers when services are unauthorized. Responsibilities also include collecting co‑pays, researching and responding to patient billing inquiries, assisting with resolution of minor billing problems, and facilitating the processing of authorizations associated with orders placed in Epic to ensure a smooth flow.

The coordinator is a resource for patients, physicians, staff, and ambulatory care service managers by providing excellent customer service, strong written and verbal communication, and high emotional intelligence.

Minimum Qualifications

BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months.

Minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience in a large healthcare organization or relevant environment.

Experience with scheduling, referral processing, and co‑pay collections.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office systems.

Strong computer and data entry skills, especially with charge entry and scheduling.

Proven ability to prioritize calls and determine appropriate referral area.

Experience scheduling appointments and exercising judgment concerning patient needs.

Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, preferably pulmonary medicine.

Demonstrated knowledge of insurance types and authorization processes.

Effective interpersonal skills and professional communication in person, written, and by telephone.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual: English/Spanish.

Experience with Epic.

Knowledge of UCSD Medical Center systems.

Outpatient Pulmonary experience.

Special Conditions

Will be required to float to other clinics for coverage as needed.

Must be able to work varied hours and locations based on business needs.

Employment subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act: Annual Full Pay Range: $57,399 - $71,347 (prorated if appointment percentage

Factors in determining appropriate compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
