In this role, you will join our Power Generation Team as a Senior Process Piping Designer in Mount Laurel, NJ, with other locations under consideration: Oradell, NJ; Atlanta, GA; Overland Park, KS; Seattle, WA; Boise, ID; Hailey, ID and Houston, TX. Your Impact
Work in a team environment with minimal direction to develop process piping models, equipment arrangements, field verification responsibilities on established sites and sites in construction, and QA responsibilities of process piping design deliverables.
Apply knowledge of process piping design, standards, and specifications.
Use 3D computer‑aided design and drafting (CADD) software and collaborate with engineers to resolve design details or discrepancies, and to prepare precise drawings for projects of moderate‑to‑large scale and complexity.
Follow standard practices to provide technical design assistance and guidance that accounts for proper illustration, fit‑form, and function using geometric dimensioning, tolerance and quantity calculations, ensuring construction and maintainability according to design standard specifications and code requirements.
Act as a consultant regarding work progress and problem resolution; serve as the primary Drafting/Design Support resource on a project or oversee Drafting/Design Support activities for moderate/large scope projects.
Work individually or as part of a cross‑functional team to execute project work; occasionally lead tasks and Drafting/Design Support staff on technical assignments.
Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by an engineer.
Monitor and oversee drafting and design plans to ensure quality control and contract compliance; document work progress and issues throughout project scope.
Collaborate with the engineer‑in‑charge and other technical professionals on assigned project phases, segments, checks, and tasks.
Apply analytical techniques and software to solve large‑scale and complex engineering issues or to modify or redesign existing designs in accordance with project standards and specifications.
Engage in occasional contact with client and contractor personnel to schedule and coordinate project drafting and design support review.
Attend pre‑construction meetings and answer questions from contractors and other attendees.
Provide guidance and training to entry‑level drafting and design support staff.
Remain current in latest drafting and design support knowledge, techniques, and practices.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related discipline or 7+ years of equivalent experience.
7+ years of relevant post‑education experience in design/drafting with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
3D modeling design experience using Hexagon CADWorx or Hexagon SmartPlant.
Coordination model experience with Navisworks.
Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non‑technical audience.
Highly proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and abiding by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree is preferred.

Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $98,300 – $175,230. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
