Responsibilities

Develop process piping models and equipment arrangements with minimal direction.

Perform field verification at established and construction sites.

Use 3D CAD (e.g., Hexagon Smartplant, CADWorx) to prepare precise drawings for moderate‑to‑large scale projects.

Apply geometric dimensioning, tolerancing, and quantity calculations to meet design standards and code requirements.

Provide technical design assistance and guidance, ensuring construction and maintainability of designs.

Act as a consultant for work progress and problem resolution; may serve as the sole drafting/design support resource or oversee support activities.

Lead tasks and supervise drafting/design staff for complex projects.

Prepare multiple design versions for engineer review.

Monitor drafting and design plans to maintain quality control and contract compliance.

Collaborate with engineers and technical professionals on project phases, segments, checks, and tasks.

Apply analytical techniques to solve large‑scale engineering issues or redesign existing designs.

Engage with clients and contractors to coordinate drafting and design support review.

Attend pre‑construction meetings and answer contractor questions.

Provide guidance and training to entry‑level drafting and design staff.

Stay current with the latest drafting and design knowledge and practices.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company resources and conduct.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.

7+ years post‑education experience in design/drafting with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Experience with 3D modeling in Hexagon CADWorx or Hexagon Smartplant.

Experience coordinating models with Navisworks.

Analytical mindset with sound judgment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.

Proficient self‑leadership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and WSP’s health, safety, and anti‑harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree is preferred.

Accomplished in performing essential duties with reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Experience with P&IDs, orthographics, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings.

Field experience in power plants/refineries.

Administrative experience with SmartPlant3D and CADWorx.

Compensation Expected salary: $98,300 – $175,230 (all locations). The range reflects education, experience, and geographic location; actual compensation may vary.
