LIBRARIAN: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit)
– San Diego Community College District Posting may reflect an ongoing pool for part-time adjunct/temporary faculty positions. Applications may be considered for upcoming openings in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. The district notes that adjunct pool placements depend on needs and qualified applicants may be contacted directly for assignments.
Responsibilities
Provide reference, collection development, instructional workshops, technical services, cataloging, electronic resource management, online services, and/or outreach to students, faculty, and classified professionals in a variety of modalities in support of the library.
For for-credit courses, teach in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines; divide teaching between lecture and lab as determined by the department; be available to students outside of class.
Attend and participate in department, campus, and district meetings; contribute to the development and implementation of library policies and procedures.
Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas and fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
Maintain professional conduct and ethics; perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.
Master's degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science (American Library Association-accredited); OR
Possession of a California Community College Librarian Credential (valid for life); OR
The equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications
California Community College Librarian Credential (valid for life) – if possessed.
Desirable Qualifications
Equivalency options available if exact degrees are not possessed; foreign degrees require evaluation per NACES/ACEI guidelines and submission with online application.
Commitment to Diversity All applicants must have demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff.
Special Instructions / Working Conditions Working conditions varied by assignment; selected candidate must complete required pre-employment steps:
Submit official college transcripts.
Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years).
Have fingerprints taken by Live Scan at district expense.
Present original documents for eligibility to work in the United States.
Pay Information Salary placement is contingent upon official transcripts and verification of previous work experience; initial placement follows the adjunct salary schedule as per documentation. Official salary schedules available via the district’s site.
