A Brief Overview
The Director, User Experience Design will play a key role in developing and implementing the vision, strategy, and team needed to serve our customers digitally. The position leads the design exploration and innovation of our digital applications and websites, directs and mentors a team of UX designers, champions a user‑centered design process, and builds strong relationships with internal team members, including Research, Brand, Product, Custom Communications, and Development.
This role requires familiarity and understanding of research, design, and development processes—including user testing, building prototypes, and sprint‑based design.
What You Will Do
Directs and develops the strategy behind user experience efforts and translates strategy into user experience objectives. Communicates designs and objectives with the UI leadership team.
Provides oversight in the development of user experience framework(s) that define the product value proposition to support product and services roadmap investments.
Collaborates with Product Managers and other cross‑functional leaders to define, prioritize, and implement strategic user experience design needs. Confidently presents recommendations to top levels of management to influence adoption of best‑in‑class digital designs.
Manages Safelite's design system documentation and component library. Ensures documents are updated as needed and are accessible to Safelite associates.
Partners with Traffic Supervisor to manage project intake and assign workload to the team.
Manages, leads, and mentors UX Design team members. Ensures routine responsibilities are performed and priorities are aligned with business goals.
What You Will Need
Bachelor's Degree in Human Factors, UX Design, Communication Design, or a related field (preferred)
10+ years of related experience
Experience designing user experience or user interface for digital products (required)
Experience managing a UX Design team (required)
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present, interact with, and influence all levels of management internally and externally (High proficiency)
Strong knowledge of user‑centered design methodologies and best practices, including usability testing and user journey mapping (High proficiency)
Familiarity with platforms such as Webflow, Lookback, Maze, Wrike (Low proficiency)
Strong experience using Figma, Miro, Adobe applications (High proficiency)
Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment, including the ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing requirements (High proficiency)
Proficiency in Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. (Medium proficiency)
