Job Title: Student Design & Marketing Assistant
Pay Rate: $15-20/hour
The Student Design & Marketing Assistant will support the communications and marketing efforts of the Center for Urban Transportation Research at USF. This position focuses on creating visual and digital content that promotes CUTR to prospective funders, sponsors, and professionals nationally. The assistant will collaborate with the Communications and Marketing Manager to execute design and marketing projects aligned with brand standards and marketing strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for students passionate about design and marketing who want hands‑on experience with real‑world projects.
Responsibilities
Design visual content for social media, flyers, presentations, brochures, and other marketing channels
Format and prepare digital and print materials using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Support the layout and visual consistency of marketing assets
Assist with content updates of program and center websites and digital asset organization
Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and other staff to brainstorm creative concepts
Perform basic copywriting or content editing when needed
Ensure branding consistency across all materials
Participate in special marketing initiatives or campaigns as assigned
Support other communications tasks and administrative duties as assigned by the Marketing Manager
Qualifications Minimum
Currently enrolled USF student eligible for FWS or OPS employment
Majoring in Advertising, Marketing, Mass Communications, Graphic Design or a related field
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
Basic knowledge of visual design principles (layout, typography, color theory)
Strong attention to detail, creativity, and organizational skills
Ability to follow brand guidelines and work within templates
Strong communication and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment
Special Skills Necessary
Ability to visually communicate ideas effectively
Reliable, proactive, and open to feedback
Capable of meeting deadlines and managing multiple design tasks
Comfortable navigating digital tools and visual design platforms
Willingness to learn and grow in a fast‑paced, professional environment
Standard Learning Objectives
Demonstrate professional skills such as time management, communication, and accountability
Understand how their creative work supports broader recruitment and marketing goals
Receive and implement feedback to improve quality and impact of deliverables
Build a portfolio of design work used in real‑world business communications
Apply classroom knowledge to practical, business‑to‑business and business‑to‑consumer marketing contexts
Develop and communicate a clear personal and professional brand
