Instructional Designer I/II Auburn University

– Full-time, Entry level

Position Summary The Instructional Designer position provides instructional design services and support to faculty, instructors, and subject matter experts in the development of online courses and modules. The Designer may be responsible for training, assisting, and assigning tasks to others and may provide input to performance reviews of other employees.

Essential Functions

Manage, facilitate, and participate in course development projects and instructional material development.

Collaborate with faculty, instructors, and subject matter experts to design and develop interactive online courses.

Determine appropriate instructional application of online technologies in conjunction with stakeholders.

Research and utilize the most up‑to‑date practices and technologies related to instructional design and online learning applications.

Gather feedback from stakeholders to continually update and improve course design and content.

Analyze and ensure all online courses meet quality standards, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Work with faculty and administrators to improve and relaunch online courses based on evaluation of relevant student engagement and performance data and analytics.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Level I: 1 year of experience in designing and developing online instructional materials and courses.

Level II: 3 years of experience in designing and developing online instructional materials and courses.

Substitution allowed for Experience:

When a candidate has the required education but lacks the required experience, they may apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Minimum Skills, Licenses, and Certifications

Ability to work effectively and positively while providing excellent customer service, communicating effectively, and working in a team environment.

Canvas LMS, LTI/API integrations, publisher products and services, web‑based applications, cloud‑based sharing and storage services, artificial intelligence.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrable knowledge of Canvas LMS setup, course shell, layout, modules, analytics; knowledge of design thinking, instructional strategies, gamification, adaptive learning, micro‑credentialing; audio and video editing and production.

Salary Range: $42,520 – $76,540
