Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to produce moderately complex drawings of parts, assemblies, sub‑assemblies, and weldments with limited supervision. The role involves preparing bills of materials, routes, and other documentation for custom jobs within the company ERP system. You will generate 3D CAD models and detailed drawings of new and existing enclosure designs, collaborating with manufacturing engineering and technicians to optimize designs and work closely with all departments to ensure accuracy and error‑free drawings.

Responsibilities

Produce moderately complex drawings of parts, assemblies, sub‑assemblies, and weldments with limited supervision.

Prepare bills of materials, routes, and other documentation for custom jobs within the company ERP system.

Generate 3D CAD models and detailed drawings of new and existing enclosure designs.

Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and technicians to optimize designs and ensure accuracy.

Work directly with customer care to ensure customer product specifications are applied to work orders.

Transform initial rough product designs from customers into working documents using CAD.

Create approval drawings for customer review.

Maintain CAD data and corresponding documents in the data management system.

Process engineering change requests, updating all applicable documents to current company standards.

Adhere to and apply current industry drafting standards for detailed drawings.

Analyze documentation to identify and correct missing information and ensure accurate specifications.

Review documentation from other team members for accuracy and consistency.

Use and apply basic mechanical fits, tolerances, GD&T principles, and stack‑ups to new and existing products.

Essential Skills

SolidWorks experience

Drafting and design experience up to 5 years

Knowledge and application of industry drafting standards (ASME Y14.5)

Experience with sheet metal design preferred

Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers

Proficiency in common office software applications

Ability to work independently with high accuracy

Effective workload organization and planning skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Two‑year technical degree

Knowledge of manufacturing processes

Work Environment The position involves working in a collaborative environment with various departments to ensure accurate and efficient design processes. The role requires the use of CAD software, specifically SolidWorks, and proficiency in managing CAD data and documentation within a data management system. Expect a professional setting where attention to detail and adherence to industry standards are prioritized.

Job Type & Location Contract position based out of Anoka, MN. Hybrid arrangement.

Pay And Benefits Pay range: $30.00 – $35.00/hr.
