Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Corporate and M&A
We are seeking an experienced corporate and M&A lawyer to join the Practical Law Corporate and M&A team in the United States.
Practical Law is a leading online know-how service providing expert-created, practical maintained content to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. It is part of Thomson Reuters, one of the world’s most trusted providers of answers across law, tax, compliance, government and media.
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor you will use your specialist legal knowledge of corporate and M&A law to create and maintain a wide range of content and support the development of Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will handle a breadth of interesting work.
Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer‑focused Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions.
Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.
About You
Juris Doctor with a current license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
At least 8 years’ experience working as a corporate and M&A lawyer in a law firm or in‑house.
Extensive experience in corporate law (entity formation and ongoing governance), with in‑depth knowledge of Delaware law and case law.
Extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions (public or private, with some familiarity with public company M&A).
Knowledge of the needs and priorities of corporate and M&A lawyers, including drafting and negotiating M&A agreements and other corporate forms.
Strong writing skills and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
Strong technical skills and the ability to utilize generative AI technologies to enhance productivity and accuracy.
Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space and new emerging technologies.
A curious mindset and openness to change.
Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
Candidates selected for a second interview will be asked to take a writing test.

Compensation The base compensation range for U.S. locations is $116,900 USD – $217,100 USD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on experience, knowledge, skills and internal equity. Compensation is part of a comprehensive Total Reward program that includes flexible benefits and other wellbeing programs. The role may also be eligible for an annual bonus based on performance.
