Position Overview A Customs Specialist - Entry Writer is responsible for managing the inbound shipment process in compliance with local customs authority and other governing agencies. The role focuses on providing high‑level customer service and resolving issues to ensure timely customs release.

Responsibilities

Process customs entries and related government agency interfaces.

Adhere to service level requirements per client SOP.

Prepare and submit entries according to client SOP and relevant regulations.

Prioritize work based on ETA, product service level, workflow processes, last free day and transportation mode.

Classify entries per client SOP, Parts Database, or guidance from licensed customs broker/classification specialist.

Enter shipment and customs data into the brokerage system.

Work proactively with government agencies and customs authorities to resolve issues.

Qualifications

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Effective interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.

Working knowledge of OGA’s – FDA, FCC, USDA, FWS, etc.

High level of customer service orientation.

Familiarity with customs regulations.

Computer Skills

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Ability to adapt to new software easily.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent (required).

3–5 years of experience as an entry writer.

Customs broker license preferred but not required.

Language Skills

Fluent reading, writing and speaking in English.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation Expected base pay: $20.50–$27.75 hourly. Actual compensation will be determined by experience, location, and other business factors.
