Mechanical Designer
Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team. This role involves designing complex heating-ventilation-cooling and plumbing systems, as well as refrigeration systems for industrial and commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of load calculations, life cycle costing, and energy modeling, and will be able to coordinate effectively with other disciplines.
Responsibilities
Design heating-ventilation-cooling systems and plumbing systems.
Perform load calculations, life cycle costing, and energy modeling.
Design refrigeration systems for industrial and commercial buildings where food and other perishable goods are stored.
Coordinate with other disciplines and work in a team environment.
Review the installation of designed equipment/systems for compliance with construction documents.
Perform duties with multiple projects within established schedules.
Work on a wide variety of project types, scales, and complexities.
Manage concurrent projects effectively.
Prepare construction cost estimates, both broad and detailed.
Assist in the development of contract specifications and research new procedures and products.
Perform all work safely and responsibly, following the Health and Safety Plan.
Act as a positive representative of the company and its core values.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in Revit, mechanical design, MEP design, HVAC design, and refrigeration.
2+ years of experience in mechanical and refrigeration design.
Strong teamwork, communication, and client relationship skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Strong work ethic and solid organizational skills.
Work Environment The work environment is a family-oriented, bullpen-like office with a team of 10 employees. There is an option to transition to a hybrid work model after demonstrating capability and performance. The position offers generous full-time benefits and competitive compensation, with potential relocation packages available for those moving to Lawrence.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrence, KS.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
