Position Summary The Academic Support Coordinator - Writing provides tutoring in English language, writing, and citation formatting to support student comprehension and skill development. This position manages the assigned tutoring center and works collaboratively with the Dean of Learning Resources to ensure high-quality academic support services. Responsibilities include training, scheduling, and supervising part-time tutors and student workers while promoting student success and institutional effectiveness. Duties and Responsibilities
Tutoring Services & Student Support • Provide tutoring in English language, writing, and citation formatting to students of varying skill levels. • Foster a welcoming, supportive, and scholarly tutoring environment. • Instruct students in the use of College-supported learning technologies and academic resources. • Coordinate and deliver individual tutoring sessions and group workshops in person and online. • Promote tutoring services through outreach efforts including classroom visits and College events. Center Operations & Staff Supervision • Manage daily operations of the assigned tutoring center. • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise part-time tutors and student workers. • Approve timesheets and ensure compliance with College hiring and employment procedures. • Monitor tutoring facility conditions and submit work orders or IT requests as needed. • Track supplies and submit purchase requests following established procedures. Administration, Compliance & College Engagement • Maintain awareness of learning resources, library services, and academic support tools available to students. • Collect, monitor, and analyze data to assess tutoring effectiveness and support departmental goals. • Participate in departmental planning, College initiatives, and institutional effectiveness efforts. • Maintain knowledge of College policies, emergency procedures, and learning resources guidelines. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Learning Resources.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree required. • Degree in English, Communications, Rhetoric, or a related field preferred. • Demonstrated proficiency in a tutoring subject area required. • Direct experience providing tutoring and/or academic support services required. • Supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
