Congocamp
Music Counselors design and lead joyful, age-appropriate music and movement sessions. You’ll handle planning, prep, instruction, and breakdown for daily music blocks while keeping activities inclusive, engaging, and safe.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate daily music sessions aligned to camp themes and age/ability.
- Prep materials/instruments; set up and reset spaces quickly between groups; keep storage labeled and tidy.
- Enforce safety and hygiene protocols
- Track inventory; request supplies within budget/approval.
- Coordinate with Counselors/Junior Counselors for roles, behavior expectations, and smooth transitions.
- Monitor environment (heat/hydration for outdoor sessions; trip hazards); promptly report hazards/maintenance issues; complete incident reports as directed.
- Meet or exceed ACA practices and Virginia child day program licensing standards.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality; be punctual, prepared, and flexible; perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or designee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading youth music (camp, classroom, community programs, choir/general music).
- Strong lesson-planning and group-management skills; able to adapt for diverse learners and sensory needs.
- Pediatric First Aid/CPR (or able to obtain before the season and maintain throughout employment).
Eligibility
Must be at least 18 years old by the first day of employment and able to pass required background checks per School and Virginia regulations.
