We are looking for a Lecturer in the Teaching of Rhetoric and Writing to join the University Writing Program at the University of Florida.
Job Details

- Employment Type: Full Time (9‑month, full‑time)

Responsibilities
- Teach writing‑intensive courses in areas such as first‑year composition, thematic critical thinking and writing, discipline‑focused writing, and professional writing.
- Develop and update course materials and syllabi.
- Engage in the program’s goal of cultivating effective visual and written communication in academic and professional contexts.
- Participate in collegial activities, including curriculum development and program assessment.
- Optionally, lead experiential learning such as student exchanges, study abroad courses, or community‑based outreach.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or a related content area.
- Teaching experience in composition (or related field) with a strong focus on writing instruction.
- Demonstrated competency in rhetorical theory and practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest or experience in experiential learning, including student exchanges, study abroad, or community outreach.
- Familiarity with AI and/or digital media in writing instruction.
- Professional experience in writing instruction beyond academia.
