Position Overview
Communications Strategist – Office of Government, Policy and Public Relations (GPPR) – Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE).
Salary: $28.30 per hour; $2,264.31 bi‑weekly; $4,906.00 monthly.
Responsibilities
Track and coordinate records requests made under the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) and FOIA.
Maintain the CORA tracker, coordinate with divisions, and ensure timely responses.
Issue invoices, track payments, review records for redaction, and manage legal holds via Google Vault.
Monitor media inquiries, maintain media contact lists, and support earned media strategy.
Assist with subpoena intake and administrative subpoena processes.
Provide subject‑matter expertise on CORA, FOIA, and privacy laws and support the Communications Council.
Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to communications, public relations, or content production for a government agency, nonprofit, higher education, or private sector organization.
Must be a current resident of Colorado.
Must pass a thorough background check including the E‑Verify process.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with open records requests and with CORA and/or FOIA.
Track record of managing social media, evaluating analytics, and drafting statements.
Conditions of Employment
Full‑time, entry‑level position located in Denver, CO.
Hybrid workplace: at least 2 days per week on site at the listed address.
